Decommissioning of the GACRC's z-cluster

Monday, November 20, 2017

The Georgia Advanced Computing Resource Center (GACRC) will decommission its oldest high performance computing cluster, z-cluster, at the beginning of November 2017. The z-cluster is already nine years old and needs to be replaced. Plans are in place to increase the computing capabilities of Sapelo in order to compensate for the decommissioning of the z-cluster.

No new jobs will be accepted on z-cluster after September 29th.

A 30-day window will be in place for all submitted jobs to complete, otherwise they will be terminated. Please plan accordingly.

User access to the z-cluster will be removed November 3rd

Migration/deletion of all data off the Panasas and escratch4 will be expected to be completed by November 3rd
